Census - Updated 2026/27 Reference Dates and Parameters

For schools in England, this update ensures that all reference dates, term dates, and eligibility windows for the 2026/2027 statutory returns are correctly implemented.

This includes the Autumn 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 School Census, the School Workforce Census, Catholic Education Service (CES) Census, and SLASC, in line with DfE specifications.

What's New

  • Autumn Census 2026 – Reference Date 01 October 2026, with applicable term dates. As well as; Attendance, Exclusion, FSM Eligibility, Learner FAM, Managed Moves, Alternative Provision, and Post 16 Learning Aims date ranges.
  • Spring Census 2027 – Reference Date 21 January 2027, with applicable term dates. As well as; Attendance, Exclusion, FSM Eligibility, Learner Support, Learner FAM, Managed Moves, and Alternative Provision date ranges.
  • Summer Census 2027 – Reference Date 20 May 2027, with applicable term dates. As well as; Attendance, Exclusion, FSM Eligibility, Learner Support, Learner FAM, Managed Moves, and Alternative Provision date ranges.

  • School Workforce Census 2026 – Reference Date 5 November 2026, with updated Absences, and Continuous Contracts date ranges.

  • Catholic Education Service (CES) Census 2027 – Reference Date 21 January 2027.

  • SLASC 2027 – Reference Date 21 January 2027.
