To reflect the changes made to Attendance Codes for the 2024/2025 Academic Year by the DfE, the following pages have been updated and will use the new codes from the 19th August onwards:
Here is a list of the new Codes and Subcodes for 2024/2025:
For Codes that have Subcodes when a user clicks on Edit, by default, the Include in Teacher Register checkbox will be left unchecked so they will not be visible in the Take Register screens.
Code C: Where there are three Subcodes for Code C, selecting Subcode C0 is equal to selecting C.
Custom Codes: Code H can now also be used to create custom codes by clicking New and selecting H in the Mark dropdown. Previously A, K, and Q were used for custom codes. K and Q are now statutory codes and not available to use as custom codes. A can still be used for custom codes.
Modules > Attendance > Manage Attendance
New Codes and Subcodes will available to use when the user selects a date that is on the 19th August or later. When selecting a Code with Subcodes, the Subcodes will be displayed in a popup for the user to select.
The Add Comment button has been replaced with the following icon and will continue to work as is.
When code B, K or Y7 codes are used, users can record the Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence by clicking on the new icon which will open the popup where the record can be entered.
If users fail to enter a Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence and then Save the Manage Attendance page, they will be alerted to that fact and will see the following popup. Clicking on Yes will take the user directly to the Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence popup to add a reason. Clicking No, will result in the attendance marks being saved as per existing functionality.
Modules > Attendance > Student Attendance Status and Today's Missing Register
New Codes and Subcodes (from 19th August onwards) and the Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence record have also been implemented when a user accesses the Attendance Marks table from the Student Attendance Status and the Today's Missing Registers page.
The Add Comment button has been replaced with the following icon and will continue to work as is.
Modules > Attendance > Bulk Attendance Update
New Codes and Subcodes will available to use in the Attendance Mark Options dropdown when the user selects a date that is on the 19th August or later.
When code B, K or Y7 are selected the Attendance Mark Comment box updates to According to DfE Regulations, it is important to record the nature of the educational activity box.
Students > Student List and Groups > Group List
In the Student List and Group List pages, when code B, K or Y7 are selected, the user will be asked if they would like to record the Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence.
Teacher Dashboard > Take Register (old and new UI)
In the Take Register screen new UI, when code B, K or Y7 are selected, the user will automatically be asked if they would like to record the Nature of Activity / Reason for Absence.
In the old UI, if the user clicks Save without entering a Nature of Activity record, they will notified by the popup.
