Independent England schools can now utilise the latest updates for the School Level Annual School Census (SLASC) in January 2025. This release ensures compliance with the Department for Education’s (DfE) statutory requirements and allows for accurate data preparation and submission via the COLLECT system.

Survey Year and Reference Date:

• Survey Year: Updated to 2025.
• Reference Date: Updated to 16/01/2025.

Data Adjustments:

• Incremented date of birth ranges for year groups and age-on-date.
• Updated pupil counts:
  • Total number of pupils on the register as of 16/01/2025.
  • Boarding pupils on the register as of 16/01/2025.
  • Pupils looked after as of 16/01/2025.

Staffing and Course Updates:

• Full and part-time teaching staff employed during the week commencing 13/01/2025.
• New teaching appointments and leavers recorded after 19/01/2025.
• Annex B: Non-teaching staff recorded after 19/01/2024.
• Annex C: Newly appointed proprietor body members recorded after 19/01/2025.
• Courses of study for boys and girls updated with age-on-date adjustments.

Technical Changes:

• File naming conventions updated for 2025 submissions.
• XML header structure adjusted per the 2025 specification.

Statutory Deadlines:

• Census Date: 16 January 2025.
• Submission Deadline: 16 February 2025.

This update ensures independent schools are fully equipped to meet SLASC statutory requirements for the 2025 academic year.
