For all schools in England, the School Spring 2026 census is now available.

Key Updates:

• Reference Date - 15/01/2026.
• Attendance Includes 01/08/2025 through to 31/12/2025.
• Exclusions Include 21/04/2025 through to 31/12/2025.
• FSM Start from 03/10/2025 through to 15/01/2026.

• Learner Funding and Monitoring
• Data collected from 01/08/2025 onwards for students who are either on roll or off roll on census day.
• Only 'In receipt of Tutoring' and 'Learner repeating up to one year of 16-19 funded provision' data is collected for the Spring and Summer returns.
• Alternative Provision (AP)
• Data collected for any current (open) AP placements on census day, or closed between 02/10/2025 and 14/01/2026.
• Learner support (bursary funding for 16 to 19 year olds)
• Data collected from 01/08/2025 onwards for students who are either on-roll or off-roll roll on census day.
• XSLT validation and Summary Report have been updated in line with the DfE Spring 2026 specification.
