Modules > Finance > Budgeting > Scenarios
A new enhancement has been introduced to Budget Planning, allowing users to copy an existing Budget or Forecast scenario. This feature provides greater flexibility in scenario management by enabling users to create multiple versions of a budget or forecast without the need for manual export and re-import.
A new "Copy" button has been added to the Scenarios page.
The button appears only when a scenario is selected in the scenario table.
Upon selecting the "Copy" button, a Copy Scenario pop-up appears.
The pop-up contains the same options as the New Scenario button.
Disabled radio buttons indicate whether the scenario is Budget or Forecast, based on the original scenario.
Pre-populated with the original scenario name appended with "-Copy". Editable by the user (15-character limit). Duplicate names are not allowed.
Scenario Code field is mandatory:
Pre-populated from the original scenario. Editable by the user (10-character limit). Duplicate codes are not allowed.
Financial Year is mandatory:
Defaults to the financial year of the original scenario. Editable via a drop-down of "Not Started" and "Open" financial years.
Saving the Copied Scenario
Upon saving, a success message appears confirming the new scenario’s creation.
If errors occur, a validation pop-up will list issues such as inactive ledger codes or cost centre mappings.
The copied scenario is then added to the scenario table with all associated budget or forecast data.
All columns are populated as they would be in a newly created scenario.
Budget Maintenance and Cost Centre Allocation.
Budget Variance and Budget Forecast.
If this is the first budget scenario in a financial year, users are prompted to set it as the Original Budget. Users cannot select Closed Financial Years for the new scenario.
A validation pop-up will list any errors, including:
Inactive Ledger Codes, Cost Centres, Funds (School Finance), and Sites (MAT Finance).
Invalid Cost Centre links and Profile models.
Errors can be exported for review, and data can be copied excluding problematic rows.
This feature enhances budget scenario planning by simplifying duplication and version management, reducing manual workload and improving efficiency in budget and forecast scenario management.
