MAT Finance: Reopen Closed Periods in Restricted Mode

Finance > Routines > Period Maintenance

This new feature allows users to reopen closed accounting periods in a restricted mode. This enables controlled adjustments to journals or ledgers without reopening the period to all users, maintaining both flexibility and data integrity.

Only users with access to the correct Period Maintenance roles and permissions will have visibility of the reopened period. Users without the correct roles and permission will continue to see a closed period.

Key Features

Click the calendar icon for a closed period within Period Maintenance.

A pop-up confirms the financial year and period, and tells user the period will be placed in restricted mode.

A Caution pop-up warns of the impact on Ledger balances, reports and outputs.

To finish the process you must confirm your credentials using this pop up. Your username will be filled in automatically and cannot be changed at this stage.

Image #4

Once you have supplied your credentials the period will be reopened and a confirmation will display.

The period status will update to Open (Restricted) in both Period Maintenance and Financial Year Maintenance and that status will remain until re-closed.

The reopening of a period and any transactional data changes will be reflected in Audit History.

Users can close a period that is Open (Restricted) by clicking the Calendar icon. This is the same process as closing any other Open period.

Notes

  • Reopened periods appear as the earliest open period within the year.

  • A financial year cannot be closed while any period remains Open (Restricted).

Config > Setup > Roles And Permissions

The new Reopen Closed Period (Restricted Mode) permission will have to be enabled from the Finance module for the appropriate roles under Routines > Period Maintenance.
