Students > Student Details > Special Educational Needs
For schools in England, the Special Educational Needs page has been updated to include:
- An enhanced SEN Details section.
- A new, dedicated SEN Reviews panel.
SEN Details
The following updates have been applied when adding or editing SEN Details:
- The previous 'SEN' and 'Special Needs' tabs have been merged into a single tab: SEN Status & Category.
- A new Provisions tab has been introduced.
SEN Status & Category tab: Adding a new SEN Status
The following label has been renamed to align with the SEN Code of Practice:
- 'Specialist Provision' --> SEN Status
Complete the following fields:
- SEN Status
- Broad Area of Need Type
- Start and End Date
Note: 'Specialist Provision' has been relabelled to SEN Status (to align with the SEN Code of Practice).SEN Status & Category tab: Adding a new SEN Category

Complete the following fields:
- SEN Category

A new Show History toggle has been added to the SEN Status & Category popup.
- When enabled, shows records with past End Dates
- When disabled, displays only active records
'Needs Changelog' has been renamed for consistency with updated terminology to

- Role
- Agent - any external agents with the student
- Staff - any staff member currently associated with the student

SEN Reviews Panel
A new, dedicated SEN Reviews panel has been added. Previously located within the 'SEN Details' panel, Reviews now appear in their own section for improved visibility and accessibility.

When a user creates a new SEN Review, the system will automatically populate the date and time fields using the Next Review details from the last completed SEN Review record.
Note: All documents uploaded into the current Reviews section will be moved to the SEN Document List area, and listed as private. Any Review Dates completed in the current Reviews section will be transferred over to the new panel.
Config > Setup > Roles And Permissions
The Special Educational Needs > SEN Details, SEN Reviews (new), and SEN Events options will have to be enabled from the Framework module under People > Students> New Student Details for the appropriate roles.
Config > Administration > Lookup Tables
The following updates have taken place in the Lookup Tables:
- 'SEN Provisions' renamed to SEN Status
- 'SEN Needs' renamed to SEN Categories
Reports > Adhoc > Quick Report
To align with the SEN Code of Practice, the following label changes have been made to existing Data Items:
- Provision --> Status
- Need --> Category
In addition, new Data Items have been introduced to support the new SEN fields now available in the newly added Reviews panel and Provisions tab.
