Students > Student Details > Safeguarding
For schools in England, the Safeguarding section of a student's profile has been expanded to include Kinship Care options.
What's new
A Kinship Care panel has been added to the Safeguarding page. The following fields are available to complete:
- Start Date - Defaults to today's date.
- End Date - Optional.
- Kinship Care - Choose from Not Declared, Kinship Identified (Formal), Kinship Identified (Informal) Kinship Identified (Unknown).
- Notes - Optional, up to 500 characters.
- Each record can not have overlapping dates with existing Kinship Care records.
The dates entered in here will determine whether the student is classed as in Kinship Care in the MIS using the following criteria:
- ND = Not Declared
- KF = Kinship Identified (Formal)
- KI = Kinship Identified (Informal)
- KU = Kinship Identified (Unknown)
You can also create a new Kinship Care record directly from the Student List using the Quick Edit popup and the Kinship Care attribute.
When updating the Kinship Care record, you can choose one of the following options:
- Update Current Record:
- Set the Start Date to today’s date.
- Allows you to amend the End Date, Kinship Care status and/or Notes of the currently active record. Click Update.
- Terminate current record and start new one based on new record start date:
- Enter a Start Date for the new record and select a Kinship Care status. Click Update.
- The existing record will automatically end on the day before the new start date.
- End Date and Notes are optional for the new record.
