Seating Plan - New UI Options Available In Old UI Areas

Home > My Dashboard > Seating Plan

The new Teacher Dashboard Seating Plan is now available in areas that still use the Old User Interface (UI). This brings the same modern seating plan experience already available in the New UI to more areas of the MIS. This applies to the Groups, Take Register and User Timetable pages.

New UI Settings

Config > Setup > System Settings > Seating Plan UI Settings

Administrators can choose whether to force users to use the New UI for Seating Plan and Room Layouts or retain the option for the Old UI.

  • If you select Old UI, the Lesson Dashboard will operate exclusively in the Old UI for seating plans and room layouts. You will only be able to view and use existing Old UI plans and layouts there, and you will not be able to access, create or use New UI seating plans or layouts from the Lesson Dashboard.

  • If you select New UI, you will use the modern seating plan experience in the Lesson Dashboard, including new layouts, furniture and functionality. Any seating plans created in the Old UI can still be opened and used in the New UI.

Seating plan functionality

  • Existing seating plans created in the old UI now open in the new view, with layouts preserved.

  • Seating plans created in the new interface cannot be opened in the old interface.


Seating Plan in Administration

Config > Administration > Room Layouts

Room Layouts in Administration can now use the new Seating Plan interface, replacing the legacy layout editor when New UI is forced. When creating or editing a room layout, you’ll see the same modern drag-and-drop seating plan canvas and furniture panel.

  • Click New or Edit on a room layout.

  • New will open a blank canvas.

  • To open an existing seating plan first select it then click Edit.

What’s been removed from New UI

  • Width and Height fields are no longer shown when creating or editing room layouts.

  • The Room Proportion column has been removed from the Room Layouts list.

Export functionality

The Old UI retains the Export function, but the New UI does not currently support exporting.
