Office 365 ONLY
We are making important updates to Bromcom’s email integration to improve security and align with modern authentication standards.
What’s Changing:
- OAuth 2.0 will replace Basic Authentication as the mandatory method for sending emails.
- This change affects schools using the integrated Office 365 options.
- No action is required for schools using Bromcom SMTP Service, Google, or their own SMTP Server not based on Office 365.
Key Dates:
- Migration and testing will take place during August 2025.
- From 1st October 2025, Basic Authentication will no longer be supported.
- Schools that have not updated by this date will receive an error: '550 5.7.30 – Authentication Required'
What You Need to Do:
Once the update is live, your System Administrator or IT team must:
- Go to Config > Setup > System Settings.
- Select Office365 SMTP Service.
- Click Grant Access and sign in using the relevant email account.
- Once you have logged in, the From E-Mail Address field will be populated.
- Verify the setup by sending a test email using the Test E-mail Address and clicking Test SMTP button.
- If at any time you would like to revoke the access, click the red Revoke Access button, and click Confirm when asked Are you sure?.
