This update prepares the system for the 2024 Workforce Census for schools in England, ensuring compliance with the latest statutory reporting requirements. The update includes several adjustments to contract data, absences, and salary reporting based on the latest specifications.
Key Updates:
Census Parameters:
- The census reference date is November 7, 2024.
- Contracts or service agreements that are still open and valid on the census reference date, or have ended between September 1, 2023, and November 7, 2024, will be included in the return. Contracts must be either permanent or have lasted at least 28 days.
- Absences reported will cover the period from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024
System Configuration:
- The SWC Configuration Table (CNS_SWFConfigurations) will be updated with the latest dates for the 2024 Workforce Census.
XML Output Changes:
- The census XML output will now include the field
<Sex>
instead of <Gender>
, aligning with the latest specifications.
Handling Closed Contracts:
- For staff members with closed contracts, the data output must comply with sections 2.4 and 3.3 of the official specifications.

These changes ensure that schools in England can accurately submit their Workforce Census data, in line with the 2024 statutory requirements, and help ensure proper reporting of contract, absence, and pay information for staff members.
