wTimetable - Scheduling: Auto Schedule Complex Blocks

Modules > wTimetable > Scheduling > Actions > Auto Schedule

You can now control whether Auto Schedule optimises sessions within Complex Blocks or keep all existing block arrangements unchanged.

What's New

▶ Step 1 - Select Entities > Shuffle Complex Block Structure?
A new question has been added to the Select Entities step of the Auto Schedule process - Shuffle Complex Block Structure? By default, no option is selected, and you must choose Yes or No to proceed:
  • Yes = Auto Schedule may swap sessions within a class across different periods, where necessary, to ensure all sessions can be scheduled without conflicts.
  • No = Sessions in a complex block will be fixed, and Auto Schedule will reserve the positions of the sessions in the complex block.

Tip: A hint icon is available next to the question, providing a summary of each option on hover.

In this example, the same staff member is assigned to Ar and ArF in two different classes during Period 1. When the Auto Schedule process is run, the outcomes are shown in the Step 3 Feedback screen, depending on whether Shuffle Complex Block Structure is set to Yes or No.

  • Selecting No, the position of the sessions in P1 in the complex block become fixed. This has resulted in sessions from P1 not being scheduled because of a staff conflict between C1 and C2.
