This release introduces the ability to manage split lunch periods within the timetable system. It allows users to configure, view, and modify split lunch periods, ensuring flexibility and adherence to scheduling rules.
Config > Curriculum > Period Structures / Modules > wTimetable > Create New Timetable > Add/Edit Period Structure
To support timetables with split lunches, the Period Structures must first be configured to include split lunches.
A new toggle, Set Split Lunch Periods, has been added to the Create Timetable Day Structure popup. This controls whether split lunch periods can be used (wTimetable only).
When Set Split Lunch Periods is switched on:
- A new Lunch checkbox column is displayed.
- LU is not available in the Period Type list. Important: Schools currently using Period Type = LU for detentions will not be able to use Split Lunch.
- Split Lunch periods can only be saved if:
- At least two periods are marked as Lunch.
- Lunch periods are consecutive.
- Lunch periods are set as Period Type = TP.
- The Split Lunch setup is copied to all days.
Note: Existing Period Structures cannot be modified to add or change Split Lunch. To use this feature, a new Period Structure must always be created.
Modules > wTimetable > Scheduling
Two key changes have been introduced to the Scheduling page:
- Split Lunch Badge: Periods designated as Split Lunch now display an 'L' badge in both Simple and Detailed views.
- Lunch/Split Periods: A new option in the Actions menu lets users view and edit split lunch periods assigned to Year Groups (available only when Set Split Lunch Periods is enabled in Config). Users can drag and drop Year Groups between split lunch periods to make changes.
- Any changes to split lunch period assignments will automatically remove scheduled sessions in the affected periods.
- Currently, this feature does not support schools using different lunch periods across different bands.
Count Lunch Period as One
Lunch periods can be grouped and counted as a single contact time and scheduled over lunch periods, when:
- Count Lunch Period as One in Actions > Lunch/Split Periods toggle is switched on (off by default).
- The Period Structure includes at least three periods marked as Lunch ('Count Lunch Periods as One' is only visible if this is the case).
Sessions scheduled in Lunch periods automatically generate duplicates across all linked Lunch periods, when Count Lunch Periods as One is on, making it possible to schedule double and linked sessions across lunches.
When actions are applied to a session, duplicates will respond the same way. This includes:
- Left-click on a session: Remove from this session, Remove, Lock/Unlock
- Left-click on a period header: Remove from schedule, Lock/Unlock schedule
Processed Timetable
When a timetable is processed and applied, users will see the 'L' badge in relevant periods names on the following pages:
- Students > Student Details > Profile > Timetable.
- Staff > Staff Details > Profile > Timetable.
- Staff > Actions > Staff Timetabling > Manage Non-Contact Codes.
- Groups > Teaching Class (Group Type) > Group Details > Timetable.
